FIVE

Five male cardinals hoping for a turn at the feeder.
Now, here's the trick. Find the three female cardinals also in the picture.

  1. How cool if there had been green I would have thought Holly. Do they fight, like typical males or do they actually take turns?

  2. I see two on the right, one high one low but I would guess there were two on the feeder, unless the one on the feeder has been there for a week non-stop and can no longer fly, great image and challenge.

  4. How'd you get five??? I'm going to try that seed thing...

I think I found all 3 of the ladies, as well. They sure are hidden!

  5. Val, fill a feeder with only black oil sunflower seed. We get a dozen and more male cardinals at a time. If you want to attract woodpeckers and some wonderful small birds, try peanuts, shelled or unshelled. Nuthatches will actually tame quickly and take shelled peanuts right from your open palm. A suet feeder will really ramp up your visits from woodpeckers. To get the best price on peanuts, try buying in bulk from a feed/seed store (farm store/grain mill) rather than from a bird or variety store.

  6. How nice of those guys to pose so prettily, I could only see two females. Amazing to me that cardinals changed their migration habits because of being fed

  7. Black oil sunflower seed is the only seed I use, too. Rarely use suet as it's usually too hot here. Have you seen a male share seed with a female?

  8. It's like Where's Waldo!! The difference is I found the females and I can't ever find anything in Where's Waldo!! I've never seen so many cardinals together at one time.
